Information for Presenters 2015

Thank you for contributing to the fourth annual Unofficial Histories conference, to be held on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th June 2015 at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam. We’ve made a note of a few things which might be useful to know…

Your details

We will be adding details of the conference presentations to the website shortly. We will use your name, paper title and abstract as per submitted proposal. Should anything need to be amended, please email us as soon as possible.

In the next few weeks, please send us a short blurb / biography about yourself of no more than 100 words which we can use in the conference programme. Feel free to include websites and/ or email addresses for people to find about more about your work.

Unofficial Histories does not use titles (Dr, Prof) in the programming of the conference.

Presentations vary in length but should be no more than your proposed duration ( 10 mins or 20 mins). All sessions will be chaired to make sure presentations keep to time, and to help the day run smoothly.

The presentations rooms are equipped with PC, projector, MS PowerPoint, along with sound, internet, etc. Please let us know if you need any in addition to this / anything specific.

Please remember that this a public conference; the audience will be knowledgeable and interested, but not necessarily experts in your particular area of work / research / activity. Please share your knowledge by making your presentations as accessible as possible.

Please don’t forget to register for the conference! We hope you’ll see that we have worked hard to keep costs as low as possible. We’ll email you when the registration is open online (coming soon!).

The Conference

The Unofficial Histories conference will take place in Amsterdam over two days. We do hope you’ll join us for both days to get the most out of your visit to Amsterdam, and to make some great friends!

Friday 5th June 2015 will be a day of papers, presentations and debate at the International Institute of Social History, Amsterdam, running approx 9am-5pm, with a drinks reception afterwards (5pm onwards).

Saturday 6th June 2015 will be a relaxed day exploring the ‘Unofficial Histories of Amsterdam’ (to be confirmed). Even if you’ve visited Amsterdam before, you may see things in a different light! We are in the process of firming up the arrangements and it promises to be a great day- so do join us!

Other Stuff

We’re very sorry but because Unofficial Histories continues to be a rather ‘DIY’ affair, we are unable to contribute to travel expenses. We are happy to confirm your inclusion in the programme for the purposes of funding applications- just drop us a line.

We would kindly ask for volunteer Chairs for the conference, and would ask those interested in acting as Chair at session to let us know.
